Bourne Valley Timber Frame designs and makes beautiful, lasting furniture and other objects, using traditional methods and leaving as little impact on the environment as possible. They work with local tree surgeons, arboriculturists and landowners to repurpose windblown and felled trees, or source timber from FSC-certified supplies. Keeping everything in-house means there’s no need for forest machinery, and allows the team to hand-select each tree for its individual character.
T-frame. Bourne Valley Timber Frame has made this three-legged perch around a traditional T-frame – a modern take on a milking stool. All the stools in this special series for Ssōne were made from the same English Oak tree, using traditional methods and tools. As the wood dries and adjusts to its new surroundings it may develop splits and cracks. Like the tool marks and imperfections natural to the wood, they are a tribute to its journey so far.
